A channel is an internet application, so you need an internet connection!
The channels listed on this site are developed for Sherlock3 which is included in Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). So the channels will not work on Sherlock or Sherlock2!

There are two way to install a channel:

1. Installation with a xml file

If you got a link like "www.website.com/MyChannel/SherlockChannel.xml", you can watch the channel in sherlock by typing the following url to your browser (I testet with Internet Explorer and Chimera. With Netscape it doesn't work!) : sherlock://www.website.com/MyChannel/SherlockChannel.xml?action=add
Attention! The url is case sensitiv!!

2. Installation by downloading a .sherlock file

A file with the suffix .sherlock is nothing else than an alias or link. So download the file by clicking the link with the right mouse (ctrl+click) and choosing "Save as..." (or "download link to harddisk"). Now choose e.g. the desktop and after it's done there is a file on your desktop with a Sherlock symbol (and without the suffix). You only have to do a double click on this file and the channel is shown in Sherlock.If the Icon is no Sherlock icon, you have to put it over your Sherlock application icon per drag'n'drop (in the dock or application folder)
To add the channel permanently you have to choose "Rubrik" in the menu and then click "Rubrik zur Menüleiste hinzufügen". That's it ;-)
